BURGER, JR. / ROCHESTER, N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a wreath flanking the number, 2. Cobalt accents to maker's mark. An approximately 4 1/4" x 1 1/2" area of restoration to rim on crock's proper right side/reverse, including a long restored crack descending from it, involving some restoration to reverse end of right handle. A restored crack from rim on reverse. A short in-the-firing surface fissure to reverse, not visible on interior. Some restoration to front not affecting decoration. A 5" Y-shaped line below proper left handle. A minor chip to exterior of rim. Staining to surface. H 9 1/8".
