Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Flowering Urn and Butterfly Motif, Stamped "SOMERSET / POTTERSWORKS," MA origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with flattened spout, brush-decorated with a double-stemmed flowering plant emanating from an urn, flanked by butterflies. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes antique wooden stopper. A 2 3/4" in-the-making base flake. Staining and light wear to surface. A 4 1/2" diagonal line below handle. Spout with two flakes and minor nicks. H 17".
