Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "WHITE'S UTICA.," NY State origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. An in-the-firing contact mark to top of spout and a few glazed-over chips to spout. A small chip to base of handle. A small chip to underside at edge. A small in-the-firing fissure to underside of upper handle terminal. Staining to surface. H 14".
