Two Stoneware Crocks with Cobalt Bird Decorations, attributed to Ballardvale, MA origin, circa 1885, a four-gallon and five-gallon cylindrical crock with slip-trailed decoration of a crested bird perched on a detailed branch. Four-gallon crock with a large reglued section to rim involving proper left handle, a long, thin crack from rim on reverse, and a salt drip to reverse. Five-gallon crock with rim chips, two long cracks from rim on reverse, a shorter crack from rim on front, a C-shaped surface crack to rim on front, a small chip to proper right handle, and a minor nick to proper left handle.
