Two Stoneware Crocks with Cobalt Bird Decorations, both marked "S. HART / FULTON, NY State origin, circa 1860, three-gallon cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a spotted bird perched on the leaf of flowering plant. Slip-trailed "3" at base. Together with an ovoid jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed cobalt design of crossed birds featuring heavily-shaded wings and dotted accents. Slip-trailed "4" to left of bird decoration. Crock with some fry to cobalt, light staining, light flaking on reverse, and 1 1/4" x 5 1/2" wedge-shaped section reglued at base and extending onto underside. Jar with scattered filled flaking, mostly on the front left and the left side, chips to both handles, thin crack at base on left extending onto underside, other minor imperfections.
