Two Pieces of Stoneware with Cobalt Parrot Decorations, Stamped "F.B. NORTON & CO. / WORCESTER, MASS," circa 1858-1877, a two-gallon semi-ovoid churn and one-gallon cylindrical jug, both with slip-trailed crested parrot on leaf motifs. Churn with slip-trailed "2" to shoulder. Cobalt highlights to maker's marks. Churn with a 2 3/4" triangular piece broken out of underside and taped in place, a large X-shaped crack across underside, extending onto base, where it forms a large T-shaped crack with slivers of clay missing and a thinner Y-shaped crack. This damage additionally includes flakes to underside. Churn additionally with a small chip and a few very minor nicks to interior of rim, small chips to inner rim for lid, and light staining to surface. Jug with an in-the-firing flaw to parrot's crest, some wear to cobalt, and a flake and minor chip to spout. H 13 1/2".
