Two-Gallon Lidded Stoneware Crock with Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "BRADY & RYAN / ELLENVILLE, N.Y.," circa 1885, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Includes molded salt-and-Albany-slip-glazed lid, late 19th century, which does not fit and is not original to the jar. A 5 1/2" crack from rim on front. A 6" crack from rim on proper left side of crock, extending through front terminal of left handle. A crack from rim on proper left side of crock extending through rear terminal of left handle. An approximately 5 1/4" Y-shaped hairline below proper right handle, not visible on interior. A small in-the-firing ping to interior of rim. Areas of staining. Lid with chips to flange on underside and two small surface flakes to top. H 9 1/4".
