Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "HAXSTUN, OTTMAN & CO. / FORT EDWARD N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical jug with tapered spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with spotted tail, perched on a flowering stem. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Some fry to cobalt. Two in-the-firing pings to front. A small in-the-firing surface fissure at shoulder on reverse. Two spots of wear to handle. Areas of staining. H 14 1/8".
