Six-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, Stamped "OTTMAN BRO'S / & CO / FORT EDWARD, N.Y.," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with semi-rounded rim and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A 5" Y-shaped line to front. A 3 1/2" x 3 3/4" spider line to front. A 3 3/4" Y-shaped line to shoulder on reverse. A 2" Y-shaped line to midsection on reverse. A 1" diagonal to midsection. A 3 1/4" vertical line to midsection on proper left side of crock. Rim chips. Staining to exterior. Water glass staining to interior. Light exfoliation to base and shoulder on front. A few small in-the-firing iron pings to surface. H 13 1/4".
