NORTON / BENNINGTON VT," circa 1855, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a pheasant with tuned head, perched on a tree stump flanked by shrubs. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes old wooden stopper. An in-the-firing contact involving decoration. Some wear to cobalt. A small spout chip and two minor spout chips.
