REMMEY / MANHATTAN-WELLS / NEW YORK," early 19th century, highly-ovoid jug with footed base and heavily-tooled spout, featuring cobalt highlights to the maker's mark and brownish manganese or iron highlights to the handle terminals. An unusually large and rotund example of John Remmey III's work. Spout chips. A 1" hairline on underside, continuing 2 1/4" up base on proper right side of jug. A 3 3/4" diagonal Y-shaped line to proper right side of jug. Some crazing below maker's mark. Some in-the-firing pings to surface. H 16".
