Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird-on-Stump Decoration, Stamped "WHITE'S UTICA," NY State origin, circa 1870, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a long-tailed bird with turned head, perched on a stylized stump. Brushed cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Essentially as-made condition with some fry to cobalt and in-the-firing contact marks to left and right sides of jug. H 13 3/8".
