Five-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Chicken Pecking Corn Decoration, probably Brady & Ryan, Ellenville, NY, circa 1885, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a chicken pecking kernels of corn from a stylized ground. In-the-firing Albany slip spatter to surface. A 1 1/8" rim chip on reverse. A small chip to interior of rim. A small in-the-firing iron ping to shoulder. Light water glass staining to exterior and water glass staining to interior. A few in-the-firing salt drips to surface. H 13 1/8".
