Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Bird Eating Insect Decoration, Stamped "WEST TROY, / N.Y. / POTTERY," circa 1875, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird with ringed neck, perched on a flowering stem and feeding on a stylized insect. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark and capacity mark. Rim chips. A 1 1/8" chip to proper right handle. A small chip to proper left handle. Two thin cracks from rim on front, measuring 3 1/2" and 2 1/4". H 10 5/8".
