NORTON / BENNINGTON, VT," circa 1855, semi-ovoid jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested pheasant with turned head, perched on stump with ground cover below. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. A salt drip to front. Some oversalting to design and in-the-firing fry to edges of design. A minor chip to top edge of spout. A tight spider line to spout and minor U-shaped line to top of spout. Minor traces of old aqua paint to base. H 16".
