Four Ceramic Vessels with Tinwork, Most Stamped "PAT. JUN, 27, 1876, F. SCHIFFERLE, ST. LOUIS, MO," circa 1876, a china coffeepot with moss rose pattern; a Rockingham teapot with cast iron handle; a lead-and-manganese-glazed redware pitcher; and an Albany-slip-glazed stoneware jar. Albany-slip-glazed stoneware jar unmarked. All others stamped with Fridolin Schifferle maker's mark on lower band. While the Albany-slip-glazed stoneware jar's maker is unknown, the remainder are "Culinary Vessels" that Fridolin Schifferle, a St. Louis producer of tin and other metal work, patented in 1876, with the ceramic objects presumably being made at some local pottery for him to fit with tin. Moss rose pitcher with wear to gilding and a small stained line to base of spout. Rockingham teapot with some damage to base of lower band, lacking finial on lid. Redware pitcher with wear to interior and exterior of rim, rust to banding, and faintness to stamp. Albany-slip-glazed jar in excellent condition. H (of tallest) 11 1/4".
