×Rare Glazed Redware Trivet, Stamped "JOHN BELL," Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840-1880, disc-shaped form with tooled accents, the surface decorated with sponged manganese over an orange ground and covered in a clear lead glaze. Impressed with John Bell maker's mark on underside. The first marked John Bell trivet of this style that we have offered, smaller in size and lacking the relief decoration and applied feet typical of his work. Provenance: From a forty-five-year VA collection, acquired from Sidney Gecker, New York, NY. A small flake and light wear to top. Very small, typical kiln furniture marks to top and underside.
