×Three-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Foliate Decoration, Stamped "N. CLARK & Co / ROCHESTER . N.Y," circa 1839-1851, cylindrical crock with applied lug handles and tooling to rim and shoulder, decorated with a slip-trailed design of three leaves emanating from a stem with small flower blossoms, including dramatic shading to the two outer leaves. Slip-trailed "3" to shoulder. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Very nice condition with a 4" hairline on underside, forming a 3 1/2" Y-shaped line at base on reverse, some staining to surface, and a minor chip to interior of rim. H 10 5/8".
