×Stoneware Butter Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BELL / WAYNESBORO'," PA origin, circa 1850-1880, cylindrical form with footed base, squared rim, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with a spotted tulip motif. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Includes original lid with tulip motif, stamped with John Bell maker's mark on underside. A thin 4" diagonal crack from rim. A thin 1 1/2" surface line from rim. Base chips. A band of water glass staining around base. Large flakes and chips to edge of lid and flange on underside of lid. Chips to knob of lid.
