Fine Glazed Redware Jug, Stamped "J. BELL," John Bell, Waynesboro, PA, circa 1840, highly-ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, the surface covered in a reddish-brown lead-and-manganese glaze. Attractive form and desirable early-period maker's mark. Some wear to spout and body, primarily at midsection. A small base chip, a few very minor base chips, and some light base wear. H 11 1/4".
