×Six-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar, Stenciled "HAMILTON & JONES. / GREENSBORO, PA.," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, decorated with a stylized stenciled wreath motif surrounded by Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling. Freehand stripes above. Base with stenciled "6" flanked by stenciled foliate motifs, above a freehand stripe. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Very nice condition. A minor glazed-over nick to one end of proper right handle and a very minor chip to opposite end of proper right handle. Some staining. Some minor exfoliation near base on reverse. H 16 7/8".
