PA," circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder, semi-rounded rim, and applied lug handles, featuring circular Hamilton & Jones maker's stenciling surrounding a large star, flanked by stenciled star motifs. Freehand stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Freehand "5" flanked by dashes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A chip to proper left handle. A 6 1/2" cross-shaped crack on underside, extending partway up proper left side of jar. A 1 3/4" base flake on proper left side. Staining to surface. Light surface wear to front. H 15 1/2".
