Stoneware Canning Jar with Cobalt Stripe Decoration, Palatine, WV origin, circa 1880, tapering jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded "wax sealer" rim, brush-decorated with five long freehand stripes. Long in-the-firing contact marks (flakes) to top of rim and a small in-the-firing chip to top of rim. A 1/2" in-the-firing chip to inner rim for lid and two minuscule nicks to inner rim for lid. Rim is slightly out of round. H 6 3/4".
