Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "CORTLAND," Madison Woodruff, possibly with Romanzo Smith, Cortland, NY, circa 1867-1869, cylindrical jug with semi-rounded spout, decorated with a brushed and slip-trailed design of a flowering plant with splayed petals. Slip-trailed "2" to shoulder. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. A 1 5/8" glazed-over base chip. A 1 1/4" base chip. A minor base nick. Two shallow in-the-firing chips (contact marks) to spout. A minor in-the-firing chip (contact mark) to proper right side. H 13 1/2".
