Fine Stoneware Pedestal-Base Water Cooler with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Beaver, PA origin, circa 1865, approximately three-gallon, ovoid cooler with tooled shoulder and rim, applied lug handles, and rectangular bunghole, raised on an attached, wheel-thrown pedestal base. Decorated with a freehand fuchsia vine motif across the front. Cobalt highlights to bunghole and handle terminals. Highly-prized regional form. A 1 5/8" chip to foot of pedestal. A 1 1/2" in-the-firing flake to bottom edge of pedestal on reverse. A chip to bottom edge of base on interior. An approximately 4 1/2" x 4" Y-shaped surface line to front of cooler, not visible on interior. Some in-the-firing iron pings to surface. H 17 3/8".
