×Rare Three-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Cobalt Leaf Decoration, Baltimore, MD origin, circa 1855, ovoid pitcher with footed base and flared collar with semi-rounded rim, brush-decorated with three large leaves around the body and swags to the collar and flanking the spout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Impressed "3" on front. Exceptional size. Provenance: From a forty-five-year VA collection. Excellent condition with minor chipping to molding at base of collar and a 1 1/2" in-the-firing surface fissure on underside, not visible on interior. H 15 1/4".
