Two-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jar with Baltimore, MD Advertising, Western PA origin, circa 1875, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, featuring a stenciled design of a crown, surrounded by the stenciled advertising, "D.F. HAYNES & CO. / CROWN BRAND/ BALTIMORE M.D." Cobalt stripe decoration to shoulder and base. Base with stenciled "2" flanked by stenciled flourishes. Provenance: Crocker Farm, Inc., March 21, 2020, lot 255. Areas of wear and/or fry to cobalt. A small rim chip and small in-the-firing base chip. Spots of staining to base area on front. H 11 3/4".
