Very Rare Creamware Snuff Jar with Baltimore, MD Advertising, Marked "CLEWS'S MANUFACTURER'S," Cobridge, England origin, circa 1812, cylindrical jar with rounded shoulder and narrow opening, featuring a blue Federal eagle motif and transfer advertising "MACAUBAU, / SCOTCH & RAPPEE / SNUFF. / TOBACCO & CIGARS, / MADE & SOLD / BY / HEZEKIAH STARR, / No 27, / CALVERT STREET, / BALTIMORE." Clews maker's mark on underside. One of a few examples of its kind known. Chips to underside along bottom edge. A 4" vertical line to one side. Staining to surface. H 6 1/4".
