One-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to David Parr, Sr., Baltimore, MD, circa 1825, ovoid jar with squared rim and arched tab handles, brush-decorated on the front and reverse with an unusual X-shaped tulip motif and below each handles with diagonal tulips. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A hairline across underside, extending 6" up side of jar below one handle. A faint 3" surface line at base on front, not visible on interior. A short, faint Y-shaped surface line to rim on front, probably in-the-making. A minor, glazed-over base nick. Decoration on front is largely missing. H 9 1/2".
