Two-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to Remmey Pottery, Philadelphia, PA, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with heavily-tooled shoulder, squared rim, and ribbed lug handles, brush-decorated 0n the front and reverse with horizontal floral motifs between wavy freehand stripes. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a wavy line of cobalt below each handle. A 1" in-the-firing chip to one handle. A 1 1/2" chip to opposite handle. Two rim chips and a minor rim nick. A few base chips. Some small in-the-firing pings to surface. Diam. 12" ; H 6 3/4".
