Fine Four-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "F. STETZENMEYER. / ROCHESTER.N.Y.," circa 1855, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with an unusual slip-trailed design of a flowering plant featuring a heart-shaped blossom with heavily-striped details. Slip-trailed "4" below spout. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Very nice condition with a firing crack to upper handle, some bubbling to cobalt, and some staining. H 18 1/4".
