One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Cake Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, attributed to R.J. Grier, Chester County, PA, circa 1880, wide, cylindrical form with squared rim, tooled shoulder, and applied lug handles, brush-decorated with drooping floral motifs on the front and reverse. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals and a curving line of cobalt beneath each handle. A tight hairline from rim. Otherwise excellent condition. Diam. 11" ; H 6".
