Rare Albany-Slip-Glazed Stoneware Jar with Slip Floral Decoration, attributed to the Hissong Pottery, Cassville, PA, fourth quarter 19th century, squat-shaped, ovoid form with tooled shoulder, flared rim, and rope-twist handles, the surface dipped in reddish-brown Albany slip and decorated on the front and reverse with a brushed tulip in cream-colored slip. Cream-colored slip highlights to handles. Exceptional form, likely made as a large sugar bowl, butter tub, or bean pot. Very nice condition with a few nicks to rim, nicks and wear to inner rim for lid, and some residue from use to exterior. H 4 3/4" ; Diam. 7 1/2".
