Three-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "COWDEN & WILCOX / HARRISBURG .PA," circa 1865, semi-ovoid jug with tooled shoulder and semi-squared spout, brush-decorated with a stem bearing three leaves interspersed with two flower buds. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Exceptional color. Excellent, essentially as-made condition with a minor glazed-over base chip on front and a minor in-the-firing iron ping to reverse. H 15 1/2".
