×One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Batter Pail with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "SIPE & SONS, / W'MSPORT PA," circa 1880, ovoid form with tubular pouring spout, applied clay tabs with wood-and-wire bail handle, and handle at base on reverse; brush-decorated on the front with a wreath-like floral motif and additional brushwork at the base of the spout. Reverse decorated with a double-blossomed tulip plant. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, applied clay tabs, and handle at base on reverse. Includes tin lid and spout cover, joined by a chain. Very nice condition with some chipping around rim and some staining. H (excluding lid) 9".
