Rare Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "T.H. WILLSON & CO / HARRISBURG PA," circa 1852-1855, semi-ovoid jug with rounded spout, brush-decorated with a tulip motif. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark, capacity mark, and handle terminals. Includes old wooden stopper. Excellent condition with only minor flaws. Some staining to shoulder area. A few in-the-firing pings to surface. A few short, faint lines at base. A shallow in-the-firing contact mark to top of handle and some in-the-firing clay residue to top of spout. H (excluding stopper) 13 1/2".
