One-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Bird Decoration, Stamped "J. NORTON & CO: / BENNINGTON VT:," circa 1860, cylindrical jug with squared spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design of a crested bird perched on a stylized branch. Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Very nice condition, the top edge of spout with a minor chip, a tiny nick, and some wear, as well as an in-the-firing discolored spot to front. H 11 1/2".
