Half-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Cobalt Watch Spring Decoration, attributed to Captain James Morgan, Cheesequake, NJ, fourth quarter 18th century, ovoid jug with heavily-tooled spout, decorated with a slip-trailed design conjoined watch springs between wavy lines. Brushed highlights to handle terminals. Includes wooden stopper. A 7/8" base chip, a minor base chip, and tiny base nick. A small flake to spout and other minor spout wear. An in-the-firing 1" flake to reverse. A minor flake to proper right side of jug. H (of jug only) 9 1/2".
