Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Pitcher, Inscribed "Water(?)," probably NY State origin, late 18th or early 19th century, exceptionally thin-walled, ovoid pitcher with footed base, semi-rounded rim, and tooling to base of collar, brush-decorated with a looping flourish above an inscription, possibly reading "Water." Rim and spout chips. A 5" V-shaped crack indicating a possibly reglued wedge, along with small chips along cracks. Light exfoliation to proper right side. Traces of old paint spatter to surface. H 12 1/2".
