Two-Gallon Stoneware Jug with Incised Bird Decoration, Stamped "I. SEYMOUR / TROY," NY State origin, circa 1830, ovoid jug with semi-squared spout, decorated with an incised and cobalt-highlighted design of a bird perched on a leaf, including an impressed circular eye. Cobalt highlights to maker's mark and capacity mark. Includes early wooden stopper. Very nice condition with some in-the-firing chipping around bottom edge, a few chips to base of handle, an in-the-firing ping near base on front, and some staining. H 13 1/2".
