Alkaline-Glazed Stoneware Face Jug, Signed "Lanier Meaders," Cleveland, GA, circa 1985, ovoid jug with hand-modeled and applied clay face including kaolin eyes with cobalt-slip pupils, ears, nose, chin, and open mouth with kaolin teeth. Surface covered in a mottled olive alkaline glaze. Underside incised with Lanier Meaders signature. As-made condition with an in-the-firing loss to proper left eyelid and some in-the-firing crazing to underside. H 9 1/2".
