Two-Gallon Stoneware Crock with Cobalt Floral Decoration, Stamped "JOHN BURGER. / ROCHESTER," NY State origin, circa 1860, cylindrical crock with tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, featuring a detailed slip-trailed design of a daisy plant. Shoulder with slip-trailed underscored "2." Cobalt highlight to maker's mark. Very nice condition with a 4" Y-shaped surface line to right of flower (not visible on interior), a small chip to each handle, a small in-the-firing ping to rim above proper left handle, an in-the-firing surface chip (contact mark) at base on reverse, and a few spots of staining. H 8 3/4".
