Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Canning Jar with Stenciled Pears Decoration, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1870, semi-ovoid jar with tooled shoulder and semi-squared "wax sealer" rim, decorated with a stenciled design of two pears hanging from a leafy stem between straight and wavy freehand stripes. Desirable decoration and form. Sealed spider crack in underside, including cracks extending onto base area, the longest measuring approximately 3 3/4" on proper right side of jar. Inner wax sealer rim with a 5/8" chip, a minor chip, and a few very minor nicks. H 9 3/4".
