Fine Three-Gallon Stoneware Jar with Elaborate Freehand Cobalt Decoration, Greensboro, PA origin, circa 1865, cylindrical jar with incised banding to midsection, tooled shoulder, applied lug handles, and semi-rounded rim, decorated throughout the front with freehand vining and stripes. Base with script "3" flanked by appealing looping vine motifs. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Outstanding decoration. Excellent, essentially as-made condition. H 13 1/4".
