Two Stoneware Jars, Greensboro, PA origin, third quarter 19th century, cylindrical jar with tooled shoulder and semi-rounded rim, attributed to James Hamilton & Co., circa 1865, featuring two cobalt stripes above a large script "2" flanked on each side by three dashes and underscored by a wavy stripe. Relates strongly to Crocker Farm July 22, 2017 auction lot 348, which bore a freehand "J. Hamilton & Co." inscription; together with a cylindrical one-gallon butter crock, stenciled "HAMILTON / AND / JONES / GREENSBORO. PA," circa 1875. Both in strong condition. Two-gallon jar with two firing flaws including contact mark on front, light staining, light hairlines on underside, light modern marker inscription on front. H (of tallest) 12".
