Six Salt-Glazed Stoneware Bottles, American, 19th century, one inscribed, "J.C.," in slip-trailed cobalt; one impressed "J CRELLIN / 45 WILLIAM . ST / NEW YORK / EX;" one with cobalt-highlighted mark, "J.C. SCHNELL'S / SOUR MASH / KILN DRIED GRAIN / WHISKY;" one with cobalt-highlighted mark, "DF / SMITH&SNOWS / WHITEROOT / PATJULY.17.66;" one with cobalt-highlighted top, marked "HANCOCK & MELVIN'S / BEER.;" and one with cobalt-highlighted mark, "WE JONES, / 1871." J.C. bottle with a base chip and thread lamp plug in top. Crellin bottle in excellent, essentially as-made condition. Schnell's bottle in as-made condition with a base flake. Whiteroot bottle with spout chips, minor base wear, and glaze residue to base. Hancock & Melvin's bottle in as-made condition with an in-the-firing iron ping. Jones bottle with a chip to interior of spout, a small in-the-firing base chip, and small in-the-firing pings to surface. H (of tallest) 11".
