Two Three-Gallon Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware Jars, NY State origin, 19th century, an ovoid jar stamped "N. CLARK & CO. / LYONS, N.Y.," circa 1840, decorated with a flowering plant with curved stem and circular blossom; paired with a cylindrical jar stamped "E.A. MONTELL / OLEAN, N.Y.," circa 1870, decorated with a triple-blossomed floral motif. Clark jar in excellent condition with minor imperfections. Montell jar with small rim chips, two hairline cracks on front, one extending across underside, some fry to cobalt, and staining. H (of Clark jar) 13 1/2".
