Two Pieces of Cobalt-Decorated Stoneware, Mid-Atlantic origin, circa 1875, a two-gallon lidded cake crock with foliate decoration to crock and swag decoration to lid, attributed to Richard C. Remmey, Philadelphia, PA; paired with a three-gallon churn with brushed clover motif on front and reverse. Cake crock with heavy chipping to handles, rim chips, areas of fry to cobalt, and grease residue to surface. Lid with a thin 5" crack from rim, loss to knob, salt drips to top, and a few small chips to flange on underside. Churn with long crack around most of base, extending a few inches onto underside, two short vertical lines at base, and a thin 8" crack from rim, a Y-shaped surface line to interior (not visible on exterior), a small in-the-firing surface fissure to underside (not visible on interior), and minor staining.
