One-and-a-Half-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher, attributed to Samuel Irvine, Newville, PA, circa 1865, ovoid pitcher with heavily-tooled rim, brush-decorated around the midsection with three horizontal tulip motifs. Collar decorated with swags on each side as well as flanking the spout. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. Restoration to an approximately 7" x 4 1/2" area of surface below handle, not visible on interior. Some in-the-firing crazing to handle and rim area on reverse. A thin 2 1/8" firing crack at base on front, continuing 1 1/2" onto underside. H 12 1/2".
