Two-Gallon Stoneware Pitcher with Elaborate Cobalt Floral Decoration, Philadelphia, PA origin, circa 1860, ovoid pitcher with footed base and heavily-tooled collar, brush-lavishly-decorated with a three-stemmed flowering plant ascending from the base. Additional floral motifs to sides of collars. Spout area decorated with a vertical flower flanked by swags. Wavy stripe to rim. Cobalt highlights to handle terminals. A large area of restoration to foot. Restoration to spout. A large area of restoration around rounded molding of rim. A small in-the-firing ping to collar. Staining to surface. H 13 1/2".
